Being mindful means thinking before acting. It takes intentional teaching and time practicing in order for kids and adults to train their brains and bodies to be mindful. This week we worked on mindful awareness (listening) with our eyes and just listen to the sounds that we hear. This is different than when we listen to learn. After about 30 sec. we made a list of all the things that we heard. We talked about how that time to be still and listen made us feel and how surprised we were that all those sounds were going on around us. We are going to set aside time everyday to practice this mindful listening and keep adding to it with the goal of having full mindful moments several times a day. |
