Thank you all for the wonderfully thoughtful holiday gift. I will be spending the holiday break relaxing and enjoying being at home with family and friends. Lots of cozy nights by the fire ahead :) I hope you all have some time to relax as well! One of my favorite things about teaching kindergarten is all the lovely notes I receive from my kiddos. Not only during the holidays, but all the time! This is such a truly special job and I am so lucky to spend my days with your students. I am very much looking forward to spending the holiday break with my family and friends. Who knows, maybe I will even read a book or two :) Happy holidays to all! | Progress ReportsProgress reports were sent home in orange folders this week. Progress reports give some information about how your child is progressing. There is a wide range of normal in kindergarten! Typically, your child’s first progress report will contain lots of 3’s (right on track as a early reader and writer) and lots of D’s (right on track in transitioning to school routines and social kindergarten behaviors). Please do not feel that 3’s and D’s indicate that your child is not amazing and full of potential, but rather that they are amazing and full of potential and are academically right on track. ***Please sign the manila envelope and return it to school to ensure that you received it. You can hang on to the report card, we do not need that part back. Also inside the progress report folder was their most recent math journal. Please follow up at home and complete any pages your student didn't finish. Backwards numbers are very common, but we want to start getting to students to think about why the mistake is incorrect. Thank you all for the amazing support you have provided your children and I during their important transition to kindergarten. I hope your winter breaks are filled with opportunities to relax and enjoy your families. I look forward to seeing you all in 2016! |
That's a wrap!
Our Raise for Maize Campaign is complete! Thank you for all of your efforts. Some friends at Kids Co have been helping us roll our change from Raise for Maize and it is heading to the bank. Our contributions will be sent to our friends in Zambia over the break!
