We finished up our true story unit! Each student chose 1 piece of writing from their writing folder that they wanted to fancy up and publish. All students then met with their learning partner to share their stories. While partner 1 was sharing, partner 2 was hard at work checking off whether or not their partner had added all the elements of a great true story. After sharing, partner 1 had the chance to go back and prove to partner 2 where the different elements could be found in their writing. This collaborative assessment was a great tool for both partners to be thinking about these elements of a true story and looking in their writing for evidence that they included them. Each student has documented their published piece with photos on their ipad as well as their checklist that goes with it as evidence of their learning. Their final step will be to meet with me and have a final conference about their piece. I will be hanging onto these pieces and giving them to you at your November conference. Our next writing unit is all about OPINION writing! |
