We sent home our first stack of Kindergarten writing! I hope you got the chance to celebrate your young writer and learn something new from their teaching books. You may not be able to see a lot on each page, but there is a story behind evey, [icture, label, and self-stretched out word. During this stage of writing, some kids are using all they know about letter sounds to try and stretch out words. Some kids aren't ready for this yet, and that is OKAY! The more we write and share our ideas with the world, the more ready we will be take that big risk!
At the end of every unit, we look back in our writing folders and reflect on the pieces that we have done over the last month. Each student chose 1 piece of writing from all of their work, to fancy up and "publish." The process of publishing looks different as the units progress. We will be capturing these pieces with our i-pads and then uploading them to our kidblogs as a way to capture our learning. More info about kidblog coming nect week! Here is a little outline of how our publishing process might grow:

Writers need an AUDIENCE! They need to know that when we write, we write to share our ideas with the world. Our 2nd grade reading buddies are going to be one of the audiences we have to share our published pieces of work with. On Friday, we had a little popcorn celebration party with our buddies to celebrate our first published piece! We read the piece to them and they asked us questions about it.
