We are learning that we have a voice in the world and that our writing can make things happen. We are moving away from school/world problems for a tiny bit and are focusing on a shared problem. We are rallying together as writers to help support a whole-class problem we have been noticing... We are always running out of materials! We came up with a list of things we thought we needed in our class that we always seem to be running out of. - Writing pens! (papermate flair) - Smelly markers - Pencils (ticondera laddie tri-write) - Marbles (for our marble jar) - Thin dry erase pens (black) - Big art center paper (thin newsprint or packing box paper We read the book, "Click, Clack, Moo" where the cows wrote letters to recruit farmer brown to help with their problems. We also read "The Day the Crayons Quit" where each color writes a letter to Duncan to try and solve one of their problems. We thought, "hey, we can do that!" And the letter writing campaign began. In order to write a powerful letter, we need to be REALLY CONVINCING and we need to DECIDE WHO we are writing to. We will be spending the next week or so writing and collecting letters to help our class problem. If you happen to receive one of these letters next week, please consider helping us out. only if they are really convincing though :) Do they have lots of reasons?? We will the see if the power of our writing helps bring some more materials to our classroom! |
