These superpowers help us with one-to-one matching, using sight words to anchor reaching, and not giving up when we encounter hard words. These strategies are useful for all levels of readers and can be applied to emergent reader books or a more complex text. |
The powers we have learned Pointer Power: You can put your finger under the word, then the next, and the next, and you can actually read what the words say Re-read Power: Read those same words again and do it in special ways. We can whisper read, read it with a beat, or sing it. Partner Power: Partners remind each other to use their powers. We can echo read or see saw read together. Snap Word Power: We can hunt for sight words that we know! Picture power: We can use the picture to help us figure out the word Sound power: use all the sounds we know from our animal friends to stretch out words. We also use this power when we realize that something is not quite right with the word, we try it again!
