There are all sorts of ways to get to know numbers to 100. We can't count by 1's, we can count by 10's, we can even see patterns when we count by 2's and 5's. Getting to know all the ins and outs of numbers to 100 lets us dive deeper into the understanding of the base 10 system.
To help us practice these skills we have been playing a lot of math games! Ways you can help out at home with this is to keep counting! How many paper clips are in this box? How many pennies do I have in my coin jar? How many dried beans are in 1 cup? These are all great questions and items to count together.

To teach counting by 2's and 5's, I teach kids to whisper count the numbers that are in between. Here is a video of us counting by 2's using the whisper strategy with our feet! To count by 5's we use our fingers. We start with out pointer finger as 1, middle finger is 2, ring finger is 3, pinky is 4, and thumb is 5! We whisper count all the numbers except the counting by 5's numbers.
